To fulfill a life long desire I decided to purchase a motorcycle. I did some research and determined that; a mid 80's bike would be a good match for my self imposed budget, an engine of approximately 650cc would have enough power, could be insured (depending on the model) and would not be too big for me to handle.

When it was offered to me I bought a 1984 Kawasaki GPz550, picture on the left. Why this bike? I asked about it in the motorcycle news groups and all the replies said it was a great Bike. I also found a couple of old magazine articles that called it the best all round Sports bike of the mid 80's era.

When doing my research I could not find a WWW page covering the GPz550's history, specs, and owners experiences. Therefore I have started this site, I hope you find it useful.

Well I have good news and bad news. The bad news is that I have sold my GPz550 to a GPz enthusiast named Tim here in Ottawa. I sold it for a couple of reasons. The first is physical in that at 56 years young I found the heat on a sunny day really tiring me physically and my hand was getting really sore squeezing the clutch. The 2nd reason is that lately I was going way too fast for my experience level. I love speed and could not slow down, since my bones are brittle these days :-) I figured best to give it up. What will I do now, well don't be surprised to see a 70's MGB, 90's Miata or 80's Porsche 944 page start up soon. I am looking for the right car at the right price.

OK the good news is that I am going to leave this web page up and maintain it so those of you that still have yours have a place on the net.
